Testimonials

Below you'll find several letters from previous clients. I wish to thank each of them for contributing a testimonial but mostly I wish to thank them for trusting me to tackle their projects.

I helped an elderly woman prepare for her move from a 3 bedroom home into an assisted living apartment. Many years of accumulation made the task overwhelming for her. Her son, Tom, wrote this note on my interaction with his mother.

“Although both my sister and I live near our mother, neither of us had the time needed to get her organized for her move into an assisted living facility.  Her neighbor, John, thankfully came to the rescue. He started out very gently by showing his expertise and also his gentle yet firm nature. It did not take long for mom to realize greater friendship and trust. Within a few weeks John had all of her belongings perfectly organized for continued use, longer term storage, donations to neighbors and church, and, of course, trips to the dump. Every item was clearly labelled for its new home or “place.”  The more that John helped her give up, the greater her perceptible freedom. Although she still occasionally misses her larger home and vast belongings, she is mostly very comfortably settled with the essentials and basic comforts and pleasures. For mother and our family, John was an absolute lifesaver! He also continues to be a part of our family."

While working on another project I was introduced to Lyn. She needed someone to help her tackle a very large job of sorting through her parents' home in order to prepare it as a rental. Many of my skills as a woodworking and handyman were useful as we not only sorted through huge amounts of personal belongings we also altered various parts of the home to repair or improve it.

“I met John during a stressful period in my life. My parents had suddenly passed-on within months of each other. I needed to carefully sort out their home and belongings of more than 40 years, all the while running my business, going to school and trying to manage my own life and my parents’ legacy. I needed help!  I met John through neighbors; they said, “You need John.”  Thank Goodness! John had recently helped them organize their own business storage areas. He came over and walked the property, made some initial assessments and presented a clear course of action to start.  I felt relief.

Day one ~ I was amazed at the progress and how easy John made the process; he was always on time, organized, kind, pleasant to work with, understanding, knowledgeable and considerate of my feelings. His plan included my ongoing input, so I didn’t feel the stress of letting it out of my hands. Every day was like peeling another layer of the onion. Each week he provided a detailed written summary.  Over the next few months, John worked tirelessly organizing the numerous belongings for me to look at and make decisions on. John worked efficiently, he moved furnishings, sorted,

discarded, donated, or sold items, oversaw major structural modifications. He cleaned and painted every room, hand built a custom oversized threshold; he helped with buying new kitchen appliances, and much more.  John saw me through a challenging time in my life and accomplished a massive amount of work in an efficient way and at a very reasonable price. Perhaps most importantly, John’s calm nature and strength allowed me to grieve and yet still move forward by keeping me engaged in the process.

John is a good man. Anyone would be fortunate to work with him."

I came across a very large hidden storage area while visiting a friend at her job. My first instinct was to offer my services to get it cleaned out and organized better and maybe create a lockable storage space for the tenants of the building. David jumped at the offer and the results were dramatic.

“I am pleased to recommend the services of John. During the past six years, I’ve worked with John on numerous different projects, and am always satisfied with his work.  About five years ago, John proposed and implemented a comprehensive plan to organize and expand the storage units in our two-story warehouse. The project included a thorough cleanup and decluttering after many years of neglect. He was able to envision the ideal scene, develop the plan and drawings, and then complete the renovation. He performed a number of design and construction tasks that have helped with this and other projects.  John has also redesigned and automated our office buildings’ utility billing system using Microsoft Excel. Our billing process is now much more efficient, and less prone to error.  Again, I am pleased to recommend John for any organizing project."

While living with a good friend I kept myself busy by helping around the house and eventually built a woodshop for her. She had the space and all of the shop tools but clutter had overtaken the space. We were successful in creating a very workable shop.

“A few years ago John was able to help me in my Victorian in Santa Cruz, CA. John was the perfect person to help me organize my extreme clutter-filled garage, house and storage areas. He had a vision and realistic ideas that could make the space usable within my budget. He outlined a step-by-step process that would transform the space in a methodical way. Over the course of the project he helped me create a workshop by evaluating the tools I had and what I wanted to accomplish. He cleared the space, repaired the old floor and ceiling rafters, added new wiring and better lighting. He then built a workbench and counters using as much of what I already had as possible. Before I knew it I had a functioning wood shop and craft area. He was able to sort through all my treasured collectibles and furniture and help me decide what needed to go. I’m a very challenging client because I want to hang on to everything but as the space became more clear and usable I found the excitement of having that space outweighed the need to hang on. Thank you John for all that you did, I can’t thank you enough."
