Do just one type of organizing at a time - starting with the least sentimental items. For example, take out all of your coffee mugs from every nook and cranny and put them all on the counter. Put back only the mugs you like and give away the rest. You might have to even give away some of the mugs you like (a lot).

Practice saying something like, "I hereby release this mug to be loved and used by another and to be able to fulfill its intended purpose instead of being stuck in the back of the cupboard like some skinny kid waiting to be picked for the team."

Our Process

Our work process is naturally based on the type and size of the organizing project and is provided on a multi-step approach as described below. Specialty projects, such as photo, business, financial, or digital organizing, are typically provided on a time-and-material basis. We would be pleased to discuss your needs and provide a proposal and cost estimate.

The Standard Multi-Step Process

Step 1 - Initial Assessment

During an initial telephone consultation we can determine how our services can best meet your needs. Let’s discuss your project – I’ll provide you the opportunity to ask questions and get answers.

Simple, one or two day organizing projects can be expedited without contract agreements, based on a simple hourly rate.  If you’d prefer to pursue a more thorough consultation, I will visit your home to assess your situation and discuss various solutions. The initial meeting is primarily intended to clarify your needs and goals, assess the areas needing organization, review the causes of the organization problems (including any major life changes), and hopefully inspire you to begin the organizing process.

After our meeting, you can decide whether to do the organizing yourself or have me assist you in the work. If you prefer to do the work yourself, I would be happy to provide a Summary Action Plan for a small fee – based on my Initial Assessment – to assist your efforts.

Step 2 - Work Proposal & Agreement

If you are excited to have my assistance and depending on the size of the job, I will provide a Work Proposal for your consideration. The Proposal is typically available within a few days and includes the project description, our proposed scope of work, the work schedule and estimated costs. It also includes our standard work and payment terms and conditions. Any quotes given in the Work Proposal are valid for 45 days.

If you accept the tenets and terms of the Work Proposal, you need merely sign the Agreement form that summarizes and outlines our mutual agreements. As soon as the Agreement is signed and any retainers or upfront fees are paid, we can schedule our first on-site work session.

There is no charge for preparing the Work Proposal.

Step 3 - On-site Work Session

The hands-on Work Sessions are intended to faithfully and efficiently satisfy the tenets of the Contract. I will provide guidance and work diligently to ensure that you reach your goals. During the project, I will strive to:

  • Listen to and respect your specific wishes relative to the arranging and/or dispersing of your belongings.

  • Exercise astute and discriminating sensitivity to your motivations, concerns, and wishes.

  • Establish a friendly working relationship so as to encourage you throughout the entire process.

  • Provide you with practical information and organization skills to assist with the current session and future efforts.

As we work together clearing clutter and reorganizing spaces, you will learn systems and develop stronger skills for keeping your space organized. In between sessions, I provide support and motivation to keep you focused on reaching your goals.

The cost of the on-site Work Sessions typically ranges from $30 - $45 per hour depending on the nature of the work. There is a two hour minimum on each work session. Other Terms and Conditions may apply as detailed in the Work Proposal.

Step 4 - Ongoing Maintenance Organizing

My Maintenance solutions are geared to your specific habits, needs and desires, and are intended to keep you on the path. We want you to be successful in getting and staying organized. Maintenance plays a big part and I can provide tailored support as needed, whether weekly, monthly or yearly. My ongoing Maintenance program works with you to:

  • Adopt routines and schedules to help you maintain your progress.
